Create questions
Dear All,
As mentioned in the class on Thursday, 17 April 2014, we are learning to craft questions.
This was the question we were discussing :
As mentioned in the class on Thursday, 17 April 2014, we are learning to craft questions.
This was the question we were discussing :
Mrs Roslan has 9 m of ribbon. She sold 1/5 m in the
morning and 7/10 m in the afternoon. How much ribbon has
she left?
Solution :
Total ----- 9 m
morning ----- 1/5 m
afternoon ---- 7 /10 m
left ---- ?
Remember her we are talking about quantity.
We must make the denominator the same and add them
2/10 + 7/10 = 9/10
9 - 9/10 = 8 1/10
She has 8 1/10 m of ribbon left.
Now, you have to clone a question. To clone it, you can keep the content the same,
just change the number.
just change the number.
Example:
Mrs Roslan has 10 m of ribbon. She sold 2 1/5 m in the morning and 4 3/10 m in the
afternoon. How much ribbon has she left?
afternoon. How much ribbon has she left?
Solution
Total ----- 10 m
morning -----2 1/5 m
afternoon ---4 3/10 m
left ---- ?
2 2/10 + 4 3/10 = 6 5/10
10 - 6 5/10 = 3 5/10
= 3 1/2
She has 3 1/2 m of ribbon left.
Of course, you can change the content by replacing it with another name and variable.
Example:
Mrs Tan has 12 kg of flour. She used 3 1/2 kg of flour in the morning and 5 3/4 kg in the
afternoon. How much flour is left?
afternoon. How much flour is left?
Solution
Total ---- 12 kg
morning -- 3 1/2 kg
afternoon --- 5 3/4 kg
3 6/12 + 5 9/12 = 8 15/12
= 9 3/12
= 9 1/4
12 - 9 1/4 = 2 3/4
She has 2 3/4 kg of flour left.
Now that you have some ideas,
Please craft 2 questions based on the question given above (in purple). One keeping the
content intact, just change the number, the other change the content, just like the two examples
given above.

given above.
Please come with solutions too.
Do them on a piece of foolscap paper and then we will discuss on Monday.
Homework :
Remember to do the Onsponge Pg 75 and 77.
Happy Good Friday:))

Mrs Mak
